Welcome to Wildside Adventures and Woods Friendly Environmental Retreat - your gateway to wilderness!
Is a wilderness adventure for you? It's up to you to determine that a Wildside wilderness Adventure is what you were searching for.
We could try the New Age approach:
"Come and escape with us to the lush green forests where we will lose
ourselves in finding ourselves by ourselves in the
tranquility and
repose of Mother Nature's verdant lap."
We prefer the Wildside Adventures approach: "Lace up the hiking boots, strap on your pack and let's head to the mountains!"
Simply stated, we have a passion for life, the woods and the environment. We want to help you discover or give new life to the "wild side" in you. We believe that time spent in the outdoors, whether it's one day or one week, gives women the opportunity to experience self-fulfillment and personal growth. By meeting the challenge of the outdoors, with the enthusiasm and support of other women, you will find a part of yourself you didn't know was there (or maybe just lost in the shuffle of everyday life).
You could hook up with other women's adventure groups to climb Mt. Everest or bike
through the countryside of France (and, hey, we encourage you to do that if your time and
budget allows you to do so). OR you could join us for a hike on the Appalachian
Trail, a
bike ride on
the Virginia Creeper Trail, or a raft trip down one of the local rivers. Our main
motto is Simplicity. Our
trips are challenging, loaded with fun and camaraderie . . . but simple. In
the words of Henry David Thoreau: "I went to the woods because I wanted to live
deliberately, to want only the essential facts of life, and see if I could learn what it
had to teach and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." We
want to open the doors to help you live, and to remember there is no promise of tomorrow -
we must live today.
If you prefer to get in touch with the earth before embarking on an adventure in the outdoors, then Woods Friendly Environmental Retreat has what you're looking for. By taking part in the activities, building workshops and retreats, you will leave with new skills in how to live lightly on our precious earth, and have a better understanding of nature and its world. By combining the two, you will help preserve this beautiful planet.
We welcome you to come join us! Click on our 2002 Schedule to find out what we have available, then just fill out our attached form. It's as simple as that.
